Enjoy your morning coffee with a hint of KY bourbon.
I started drinking coffee at a very young age. At first, I didn’t really like the taste of it, but it grew on me. Now, I will enjoy a cup in the evening after dinner. With Fathers day coming up I think this would be one of the cool gifts that should be looked at for any coffee drinker. I typically like stout brews that are a little darker in nature, but when I heard about the Bourbon Infused Specialty Coffee from Don Pablo I thought it sounded like something unique to try.
DETAILS
The coffee from Don Pablo is all sold as Whole Bean coffee. The Bourbon Infused Coffee is Don Pablo’s Organic Speciality Grade coffee that is soaked in fine Kentucky Bourbon before it’s roasted. The beans are dried and then roasted Golden Blonde in small batches. The process is mapped out like this so that the natural sugars of the beans and the Bourbon are caramelized to perfection. This coffee has a fruity, nutty, sweet, and spicy flavor. There are notes of caramel, honey, and butterscotch within the taste of the coffee. The nuttiness of the flavor is derived partially from the Bourbon’s maturation in seasoned oak casks.
USER EXPEREINCE
When the package arrived I was immediately impressed. The pouch of coffee beans is sold in a canister that is made to look like a bourbon barrel. This was very unique and a great way to market the coffee. The coffee comes with a card that reads, “Coffee soaks in fine Kentucky Bourbon, then roasted to remove the alcohol, so only the Bourbon flavor remains…” Even though the bag was vacuum-sealed, I could still smell the Bourbon when I first opened the canister. It wafted out into the house and my fiance smelled it, too.
The smell of coffee is not unique to our house as my grandmother and my fiance prepare it on a daily basis. The smell of the Don Pablo coffee though is unlike any other coffee scent. When you open the bag, the Bourbon scent is very apparent. It smells a lot like if you breathed in from a fresh Bourbon bottle. The smell was so powerful that my fiance got a small headache and was hesitant to try the coffee at all. I told her that I would make it and she could have a sip of mine. As it turns out, she said, “Oh, that’s not bad.” The scent of Bourbon is much stronger than the taste of the Bourbon.
Because the coffee is roasted Golden Blonde, the flavor isn’t quite a stout as a dark brew. That said, the Bourbon flavor is rich and fills in the darker tones. The description on the card that comes with the coffee also states, “The resulting taste is a perfect balance of Bourbon and coffee flavors, without the alcohol.” I would have to agree. It’s a beautiful blend between the two different flavors.
CONCLUSION
Even though the coffee has a very strong Bourbon scent to it, the flavor is rich and doesn’t even need enhancements for someone to enjoy it. The flavor is smooth and strong. I can recommend this to coffee lovers of all kinds. Don Pablo coffee would be an excellent gift for fathers this coming up fathers day. Check them out below.
